Stronger Together: Celebrating Clay Day and the Spirit of Community



Yesterday was Clay Day in our beloved community, and I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude and connection as I reflect on the day. This year’s celebration felt like a beautiful return to the roots of Skindelush and the vibrant spirit of Clay Avenue.



My very first Clay Day was just a month after I moved into this wonderful neighborhood. I remember it so vividly—my awning was delivered that very day, and I spent the entire night keeping it on, building my salon stairs, and installing the doors. It wasn’t just me, though; the entire community was involved. It was a night filled with laughter, shared goals, and even the occasional passing of jerk chicken around the salon as we all figured out how to bring my crazy vision to life. The warmth and support of everyone around me turned what could have been an overwhelming task into a collective effort of love and unity.

Last year, Clay Day flew by without me even noticing. I was in a different place mentally, and the day passed like a blur. But this year, it was different. This year, it felt like day one all over again—but even better. Three years later, the community on Clay Avenue is alive and thriving, and it was truly heartwarming to see everyone come together, enjoying each other’s company and celebrating the essence of what makes this neighborhood so special.

Meeting so many of you yesterday was an absolute pleasure, and it reminded me why I chose this place to build my dream.
